Founder of Salida Capital, Danny serves as the firm’s Chief
Investment Officer and leading portfolio manager. He has been guiding
Salida’s investment strategy since the firm’s inception in 2001. Danny
brings more than 17 years of alternative investment management
experience to the firm, with extensive expertise in portfolio
management, equity research and trading.
Danny is recognized and respected globally as a leading
portfolio manager in the alternative investment industry. He was the
founder and lead portfolio manager of Salida’s internationally
recognized BTR Global Opportunity Fund, the flagship fund for
international investors, ranked by Barron’s Online in 2007 as the 4th
best performing fund in the world.
Danny’s foresight and understanding of global macro themes
has been the driving force behind which sectors and strategies Salida
Capital has chosen to focus on over the last 9 years. This, coupled
with his comprehensive background in fundamental analysis, has been the
foundation behind Salida Capital’s remarkable track record of success
since the firm’s inception.
Danny began his investment career in equities research at
Richardson Greenshields in 1993. He later joined First Marathon in 1995
as an equities analyst before joining the firm’s merger arbitrage group
where he was responsible for trading liability positions and co-running
the firm’s merger arbitrage book. He also covered hedge funds on a
global basis, both from a sales and trading perspective.
Prior to founding Salida Capital, Danny joined Banfield
Capital Management in 1998 as a portfolio manager and trader. He played
an integral role in that firm’s successful track record including
building the firm’s research and trading group, establishing their U.S.
merger arbitrage business and managing the firm’s long/short portfolio
from its inception in 1998.
